MT13 – Modern Twenty 13

It started out as a base for my SM Auto website and a nod to a great WordPress theme, Twenty Thirteen, and grew into a really great and very useable WordPress theme for blogging, social posting or a functional website.

Twenty Eleven theme introduced us to post formats. But Twenty Thirteen theme probably did them best. They’re now considered an outdated feature of WordPress. They are rarely if ever seen in use anymore.

The only one I can think of who still uses them is Matt Mullenweg on his personal website, and he uses them to great effect.

Post formats

While they can be a bit of work to set up, they look fantastic when used as designed. I’ve built MT13 specifically for those who want their page to look interesting and organized at the same time.

Purpose

These five formats cover the vast majority of daily posting needs.

Colors

All backgrounds, text and link colors for each format are easily changed in the customizer, as are colors for the footer and pre-footer, main background, global text, global link color and header.

Footer

There are two footer areas both with two widget areas each. they can be tuned on or off to suit your needs.

Header

The header has three height settings, title text can be aligned left, centre or right. Title text size is adjustable with a slide bar and both title and tag can independently show or hide. There are three options for header background, solid color, gradient color or image. There’s also an opacity overlay so your image doesn’t dominate your text title if you’re using it.

Usage

This theme is completely free to use for whatever you want and has no branding whatsoever.

I’m an absolute amateur at this, I’m a hobbyist, not a professional theme builder by any stretch of the imagination. My themes work for me and you’re quite welcome to use them if they work for you.
